I haven't talked to Pat since Monday night, but she did text me yesterday morning.
The generator that they bought ($560+) does not hold enough gas to last through the night and she's freezing. Yesterday she was planning on buying a heavy down comforter. I know that anyone that has been through a disaster or has a friend or relative that has, and had all of their personal possessions destroyed, can completely relate to what Pat and so many others are going through. Pat will need to replace so much from her own pocket and I know that many of our SM family wants to help her. If you are intrested, please pm one of the following people: 1. Sue (snowbody) 2. Linda (leximom) 3. Maggie (maggieh) 4. Me We will be happy to pass along info and also to provide you with Pat's PayPal address. And let's all remember to keep the victims of Hurrican Sandy in our thoughts and prayers. This is going to be a long winter for many. |

Generators are great during a power outage until they run out of gas ... and most portable ones won't go more than 8 hours on a tank of gas. And the more you draw (wattage), the more gas it burns. Pat posted on Facebook last night that she has a kerosene heater that's keeping them warm, has folks coming in today to remove drywall and insulation, her groomer is grooming the dogs today, and they may be getting their electricity back today. She has a gas stove and said they are all eating well. Camping, even in our own homes, is never easy but Pat sounds positive which always helps.

I'm so glad she got her power back. I know how hard it can be especially with this cold weather and the snow storm the other night. We didn't have heat or hot water until this week. But we were lucky and had no major property damage.

Carole - if she had electric she wouldn't need a blanket.
![]() So glad she got hers. Now if only Mom2James could get hers back. It's been a long time with two Maltese (Icy and Yogi) and a 7-year-old son. Brrrrrr. She hasn't been able to get on here as no computer with no power.
