I am sorry I have been MIA. My mom had a heart cath and 2 stints put in her heart. They went in thru her wrist and that hemorrhaged. She spent the night in the hospital. After she came home she wasn't supposed to use her arm for a week (due to the hemorrhage) so I stayed extra days with her. I returned home this past Wednesday (to a very happy husband and fluffy puppy...Sassy). We are leaving tomorrow (Monday) returning to my mom's to spend Thanksgiving with her and my other family that lives in the area. So I will be MIA again for a week.
If we have missed any important info or birthdays please excuse us. We will be home again soon.

So glad to hear that your mom is doing well. It will be an extra special Thanksgiving with your mon and family together, and knowing that she came through the surgery OK.

Pat - you beat me to the punch. You were on my mind and I was going to e-mail you tomorrow to see how your mom did. Glad the surgery is over. Had no idea they go in through the wrist now.
I guess it's closer to the area than when they used to go up through the groin (at least I seem to recall they did that) but seems like the wrist is a very small area esp in people who aren't that young. So glad you'll be with her for Thanksgiving. Sending hugs and prayers.

Very sorry to hear that your Mom has had to go through so much. I hope that this Thanksgiving will be extra meaningful since you can all be together. Take care and big hugs!

I'm so glad she's doing better!
I work in a heart hospital and it looks like the radial artery (wrist) is the way the cardiologists are being taught these days. Most of our older ones still prefer the femoral artery (groin) because it is the way they were taught and have done for years. The brachial artery (upper arm) is another way they sometimes do it. The advantage of doing the one in the wrist is that you can sit up after the procedure is over. Going through the groin, you have to lay flat for up to 6 hours, depending on how they closed the site. There is a risk of hemorrhage any of the areas. |
