I have so much to be thankful for eventhough this has been a horrible week.
Last Thursday, we learned our plant will be closing Dec 2013, and everyone will be out of a job. That will be after 22 years for me, too young to retire and too old to find a new career. Thankfully, they are giving us a year, I was afraid they were going to close us this Dec. Then on Tues, I took Dad shopping, only gone about 4 hours and someone broke into the house and stole jewelry, cash and my nook. It must have been kids, because they came in through the kitchen garden window, and took cookies out of the fridge. Thankfully Twinkie and Abbie (cat) are safe. I was so afraid they had stolen Abbie or she had gotten out the open window, because I couldn't find her anywhere. 6 AM, yesterday I finally found her, lots of prayers were answered. Twinkie is 14, and a deep sleeper, so I don't think he noticed until they came by his bed. So on this Thanksgiving, I am so grateful that my furkids are safe, the creeps that broke in didn't get my camera or computer. That the Nikon camera I was buying as a Christmas gift on Monday was out of stock (last big buy Christmas, because next year I'll be out of work), and that I don't have expensive jewelry, what they got was mostly QVC. I will be counting my blessings today, and extra ones for my sm family. |

Barb, I am sorry they are closing your plant & that you will be looking for new work. So many people out of work, including one of my own daughters (since April). She is also in CA. So, I know the road you will travel through her experience. She is young, well educated (maybe too well) and has a very positive history of employment---so no one is immune! I am thankful w/you that you have a year to look around--not everyone is so lucky. That is positive.
I am also sad to hear your house was burglarized---never a good feeling! It is great that the camera was out of stock! Another example that everything happens for a reason. I like it that you see the glass half full! We can all learn from your example. Hang in there and we will hope w/you for something really good to be thankful for next November!

Barb - I'm so sorry. Boy what two hard blows at one time. Hoping you will find something within the year. Will they give any training in outplacement? And being burglarized is such a violation -- sounds like kids might have done it. Sad world we live in
But indeed, your loved ones are well and that's something to really be thankful for. (((HUGS)))

Barb, I'm so sorry. Like Sue said - two blows at once. I too am thankful that your fur-kids are safe and that what they took can be replaced. Many hugs to you!

You have such a positive attitude and I'm thankful that what the burglars took can be replaced. I hope that a new job opportunity will arise and bring a bright adventure for you swiftly!
