Default Stomach bug going around

The Norovirus is going around... peak season is Nov - April.

My sister visited her friends in CO for Thanksgiving... they all had it. BIL got it while they were there, my oldest nephew also caught it at the end of their trip. BIL's parents who they saw one day are now going through it. My youngest nephew had it when they got home, my sister followed today. I am coming down with it...and I saw them all of 2 minutes and didn't really touch the boys! Go figure!

But even her friends who she didn't see in CO all have it.... and her mom groups here all their kids came down with it. My family from other states are coming down with it. My doctor and the boy's pediatrician said they are getting tons of cases in with it.

It's basically spreading quickly over many states... so please be aware!

It has a 24-48 hour incubation period, the bug lasts about 24-48 hours in your system and you are contageous for up to 72 hours after you stop vomiting.

It is very contagious! Like I said... barely saw my nephews... now I'm sick LOL

Best of luck to you all.....

Yep, it's rampant all right! I got it last week on Tuesday, my daughter had it the weekend before, my sister in Georgia had it last weekend-- it's bad! I was in the car when I first started feeling it, and it came on me very fast. I'm so sorry to hear you have it too, Tori. I'll be praying you get over it quickly.

Ewwwwwww, I HATE being sick....hate hate hate it. If I would have been a person who got morning sickness when pregnant, I probably would have only had one child instead of the 4 I have. Can humans pass it on to their fluffs.

Well... it hasn't hit full force this morning.

I have the constant urge to throw up in the back of my throat, but it isn't too strong and no stomach pain, just queasiness and feeling urpy.

Either my body is so acidic from the Lyme treatment (I take massive amounts of Vit C and a high alkaline diet) and my immune system is so low that it isn't really attacking much so the bug can't get a good grip.... Or I'm really sensitive and just feeling the "start up" of the bug and won't get hit until tonight.... Or I didn't catch it LOL

I'd bet on the first one tho. My immune system is so low it doesn't often react. Will probably do some detox today just to be safe.

To answer if this crosses the species barrier.... It can, but it isn't common (I looked it up last night)... there was a test done somewhere... only 4 of the 92 pets in households with the bug had it in their system...and it didn't say if it made them sick or just carriers. So... wouldn't worry too much.

Thanks for the well wishes... hoping you all can avoid this bug...

I 'm sorry that you're not feeling well, Tori. Hoping that it doesn't hit you any harder. I think that being in childcare for so many years , I have built up an immunity to these illnesses. Every day there iis someone with a runny nose, or a cough, or diarrhea, or school age siblings coming with parents to pick up their baby. Right now, they have the constant runny nose and cough. Last week two were running fevers. I can't remember the last time that I had a "sick" day! I am thankful for that!!

Deb
There is something to that. The first year I worked for my school district, seems like I had everything that came in the door. 22 years later, I didn't catch anything they had.
