Spent most of today at Duke / treatment w/blood transfusion - Maltese Dogs Forum : Spoiled Maltese Forums

I went in this morning at 11 for a treatment. Well for the past couple months I've been telling my doctor's nurse how bad I felt....short of breath, tired, sleeping alot, always cold, etc. Well today I was telling the nurse who was giving me my treatment that my next visit the doctor was going to be loud and strong! She ask me what was going on so I told her....she immediately looked at my blood work and notices a down spiral in some of the counts. Well I knew I was anemic and she called my Dr. who told her to get my counts again. When they came back the nurse came in and said "Well no wonder you are feeling so bad your numbers are worse than any I've seen." Anyway, I ended up getting two units (bags) of blood so at least now I have lips that aren't the same color as my face! The nurse told me she wanted me to have three bags and not to be surprised if I didn't get another bag on Monday b/c I'm still very anemic. Got home about 8! I am so ready for bed!

I hope you are feeling better tomorrow Donna, I'm so glad they looked closer and decided on the transfusion. What a long, tiring day I hope you are enjoying a comfy bed by now.

Oh Donna, I just do not know what to say....all I can think of is to offer you hugs and love.............

I have never for one moment had the tiniest bit of faith in the "medical community".

I'm so sorry Donna, but happy they're realizing what's going on but do they know why? What was the treatment you went in for -- was it for the cancer? Hope you're feeling better.
