Our county in NY leads in number of ticks carrying babesiosis and it is also being transferred via blood transfusions.... there's not test to screen for it!

Yes.... This started hitting the news last year, but is even more reported on this year.
Babesia is a parasite - there are many strains, and the tests for it are not great. Another part to this that they are not discussing (because the CDC/IDSA won't let them) is that if you are infected with Babesia through a blood transfusion, your risk for other tick borne illnesses (Bartonella, other parasites, and LYME) are also very possible. They are not looking for those things in the blood. Bacteria are much, much smaller than parasites.

Babesiosis is not uncommon in Greece, although we haven't had that particular one yet. Kitzi had Ehrlichia 2 X & Lisi once---both are presently free---not even carriers. We have been lucky to catch it VERY early on as I know what to look for. . . and God has been merciful! It is a 28 day antibiotic regime though!

Sandi I know several pets and people here in our area with the Ehrlichia and with all the articles lately in our local papers ...mostly talking of LYME and now this latest...very little being mentioned about the Ehrlichia.
