My grandmother was Czech. I make a lot of her dishes that she made. Some of our favorites are Pierogi, Holuski, stuffed green peppers, and a pastry, Kolachy. She grew up in Pennsylvania. When we would have a family reunion on my Dad's side the food that was brought was unbelievable!!! The little nut rolls that I make at Christmas are one of her receipes, I also use poppy seed and pineapple as a filling. My DH is Polish, so I cook some of His grandmas receipes too. Now I'm getting hungry!

My grandmother was from Czechoslovakia also, but she was from what is now the Slovakia side. I loved her cooking and make all of the foods that you mentioned above and then some... yum. My husband is Polish, too, lol. We have a large Polish community in a neighboring town and there are a few great Polish restaurants, delis, and bakeries... so we eat ethnic food frequently. Love it!!!

Oh and I loooove beets, too, lol.
