Poor, poor, poor little me. I wish I had my mommy to cuddle me and kiss my boo boo.

I know it is nothing compared to what so many of my friends suffer every single day, I know it is nothing compared to injuries so many of my friends have had. But, I am feeling so sorry for poor little me, and I need a great big hug.

Monday night I woke up feeling very thirsty. I didn't want to have to go all the way downstairs to the kitchen, so I went into the storage room where there was a case of Pelligrino water. Now, I do not turn on lights...I have always practiced getting around in the dark. I think getting around in the dark should be an Olympic sport. Oh sigh.

So, the storage room is totally dark, which means I get around on my other senses and memory. I got the bottle of water, but as I turned to walk away I tripped over something and went flying. My face hit the wall. Blam. Pain...Pain...Pain. I just sat there in the darkness and cried. Alan heard, and came running. He turned on lights.

There wasn't a lot of blood, just a little bloody nose. I had an instant headache. MiMi cried until I told her I was okay...I lied.

Okay, here's the funny part...the ironic part. My upper lip was so swollen I could not drink out of a bottle and had to go downstairs to get a glass...and some ibuprofen.

What did I trip over? It seems somebody put a guitar case in the room without my knowing. Poor man knew that is what tripped me up.

More...Alan loves me dearly. He likes to take care of me and pamper me as I do for my dogs. One of the ways he cares for and pampers me is by making sure I have a bottle of water at my bedside. Except for that night.

Yesterday I felt just plain sick. It doesn't hurt as much, but I can't breath through my nose. I just feel so sad and worn out.

The thing about having an accident is that you realize, in no uncertain terms, how quickly your whole world could change. How, one little action, or inaction, could be the difference between seeing tomorrow or going to the bridge.

Other than not being able to kiss and having a hard time breathing...oh and looking like I was in a street fight...I'm okay...but I sure could use some hugs.

Aw gee, I feel so much better with your sweet hugs.

At the time, I thought, "oh crap, now I have to stop walking in the dark. Susan probably has to give up skiing, but I can't do something as simple as navigate in the dark."

Getting old sucks, don't let anybody tell you anything different...it sucks. When I was younger I was agile and graceful...I could have found my balance before my face found the wall.

No my nose is not broken. Only swollen. I hit the wall on my upper lip...and I did not break a tooth. I am grateful that it wasn't worse...I'm just a big baby looking for hugs and comfort.
