Question New here and just adopt a maltese puppy !!!

Hello everyone,
My husband and I just got a maltese puppy ( 8 weeks old). We are going to bring him ( cutish ) to home this weekend. What kind of kennel and potty training set should we get ? We are leaving in a condo on 24th floor. Should we take our puppy outside for his business or use a pee-tray set on our balcony?
I would love to hear your valuable hints and tips for our Cutish.

Thank you

Ps: I will be adding the pictures this weekend.

Wink New puppy and no experience !!!!

Hello everyone,

My name is Tulin. My husband and I just adopted a male maltese puppy ( 8 weeks old). We are going to bring him ( papi -cutish ) to home this weekend after all his medical check-up done. I have never had a pet before and this will be our first. I have no idea how to train a puppy. Fortunately, I have found this website and hoping that experienced friends might help us.

What kind of crate or pen , do you recommend ? We are living in a condo on 24th floor. In order to potty train, should I take him to the doggy park outside or use a home-potty set on balcony , or both ????

Should we put his food in the crate or near the crate ? How often does he need to eat ? I am completely lost

Is there any book or cd that you think it might help me out ???

I would love to hear your valuable hints and tips for our Papi -Cutish.

Thank you

Ps: I will be adding the pictures this weekend.

I personally think a pee pee tray (or simply a wee wee pad) on your balcony is top choice. Maltese are fragile and temperamental little dogs. Oscar will not go out if it's 1) too hot 2) too cold 3) raining 4) snowing 5) slight wind from the East... etc. Plus it's no fun getting a Maltese dirty! Oscar was trained right away, drink, eat, place on wee wee pad. Keep doing this and give him a tasty treat every time he uses it. Soon Oscar was pretending to go just for a treat. Be prepared for them to have all four paws on the wee wee pad but the butt off it! They can't get in trouble for trying. He always looks surprised when it lands on the floor instead of the paper! Consistency is key. With any type of training.
