I was going to say what Stacey did...small litters result in a higher price range. That seems pretty average to me. I am one who supports responsible breeders of finished dogs. Plus, there is no greater joy in life than having a puppy. Work? Phew...a work of love and joy.

Why don't you PM a couple of members who know a lot about Malt breeders. I would love to help with whatever knowledge I have gained over the years.

Stacey is a very dear woman who loves the breed and works only for it's betterment. I feel confident that she would offer advise on your breeder of choice. We just don't want a public conversation.

The math makes sense to me now that I have had a chance to think about it, and I think she is getting more used to the price tag, too. She was about to drop a load of cash on a puppy mill puppy, so whats a few hundred more dollars when it comes with so much more knowlede of the puppy's lines and the breeders support.

I show Dobermans, and I have had the please of rasing, training, and showing two finished Champions.

I will likely be PMing some of you in the next day or so.

Welcome. Oh, I absolutely ADORE Dobies!

I've always had big dogs, usually in the retriever group, but in recent years I've gotten too old to manage a boisterous large pup. So I got my Maltese and absolutely adore her "big dog" temperament.

My Button is a little pipsqueak, but she thinks she's a big, bad Dobie, always telling the neighbors what she thinks of them!

My aunt had the biggest Dobie I've ever seen. I don't recall her exact size, but she could back up to the sofa and plop her butt down, sitting there like a human.

She was a trip-- and what a sleek, gorgeous dog she was.

I thought I would update this thread with a picture of the new little addition. He is from Angie at Divine Maltese. He has a fun little temperament and is so cuddly and sweet.

I also paid $3000 for mine. Some say that is crazy but your babies are worth every penny.
