Default Hello from Bella Mia!!

Hello everyone!!!

My baby girl Bella Mia makes 8 weeks today. My boyfriend took her in once he heard the "breeder" was going to give her up for adoption. This man who claimed to be a "breeder" got reported to the authorities due to animal cruelty. Long story short... Bella is now with me and I am in need of some advice. I took Bella to the vet a day after my boyfriend brought her home. He said she was healthy and to come back for shots in one week. The breeder was feeding Bella Royal Canin. I heard RC wasn't healthy. As I did my research, I stumbled upon Blue Buff. I started switching Bella's food the next day. Two days after, she started vomiting. The vomited 3 times & then gagged white stuff (which I found out it was saliva) I freaked out and called one of my girlfriends who is a Dog owner. She said to keep her hydrated and to add some sugar in her water so her blood sugar stays up. Bella kept herself hydrated and was still playful and acting normal. I kept her off food for 24hrs. Fed her white rice mixed with chicken broth as her first meal. Her second meal after the incident was white rice with (royal canin & blue buff). I was told to smash the kibbles since her teeth are still setting in. Her vomiting stopped completely and her appetite was back to normal. This morning I noticed her stool was softer than usual. I read articles and I believe is the mixing of food that's causing her tummy to be upset. What should I do? Please give me some advice. She's my first puppy!!

Bella Mia is precious. I really don't know about her tummy problems except she is very young and I'm sure her little system will take awhile to adjust to dietary changes. I'm sure some of our much more knowledgeable people will weigh in with advice soon.

I was told by my vet that wean the dog off her food to a new food for about two weeks. That way the dog's system can take the change. The vet told me this after I changed her food, but Jasmine had no problems. Cute picture of Bella Mia!!

Welcome to SM. Bella was taken away from her Mom way too early. Switching foods with any fluff at any age should be done gradually since their stomachs react as Bella's is. I would continue to put a little white rice into her food until her stool is firm. Good luck with your furbaby and keep us posted.

Oh she is sweet! I would also say the soft stools is because of food changing. I would also add the rice to her food for awhile. She also should eat about 3 times a day, and I kept a little food out in between the meals. Oh and welcome to SM!

Thank you ladies! I fed her in the AM and in the afternoon. I want to feed her dinner but she just gagged. I'm afraid she vomits again. Should I feed her rice alone or with the kibbles ?

Perhaps you should give the vet a call. I don't have anything else to offer than the advice given already. I hope all goes well with your little one. She is such a sweet little one.
