Our 16 lb "boy" Lucas
This is our boy, 2 year old "Lucas", He weighs 16 lbs as of yesterday. He is loving, happy, and dedicated to us and his "brother" ,a 16 lb Pom-Bishon named "Yancy.
" After doing some research we seem to have a massive Maltese. We purchased him from a pet store, but he came with all his papers, tracker implant, etc. He is AKC registered and he have the breeders info. We were not looking for a "show"grade Maltese, just a great pet. He seems very healthy and our vet says he is. How can I measure him to see if he realy is overweight or just plain big. We have not seem many other Maltese to compare him with. We love him so much. Here is Lucas and His "Momma"...

Personally, I believe that being oversized is the most common flaw..or deviation from the standard in Maltese. MiMi came from a show breeder and has am impressive pedigree, but she is almost 8 pounds. He has that beautiful Malt face, and I'll bet the delightful personality.
You should be able to feel the backbone to determine whether he is overweight or not. I think he is just a big boy, with a big heart and lots to love.

He's cute
 Looks very sweet.... The "norm" is usually 6 pounds... many here are less, some are more.  He will go in the more category!But he is so cute and can't wait to get to know you guys better!

He Is A Handsome Boy!!!!!
I Bet you love to cuddle with him.-I would. Such A Sweet Face.  This My Baby Boy-Yogie--all most 10 months=6 1/2 pounds

Oh Wow, he looks like my 5 lb Doobie but in large size lol. What a great face, gotta love him !
