Monte will be a year old on Feb 3rd, he's about 8 1/2 lbs. I got him from an AKC breeder in upstate NY. He's a complete sweetheart, and so very smart. I've always had larger breeds, and I all I can say is that he has been by far the easiest to teach and such a joy. He has completely stolen my heart!

On another note I get stopped every once in awhile by random people asking me if he's a Maltese and I let them know that he is. But they always seem so surprised and ask me if I'm sure once I tell them how much he weighs. I've always had larger breeds and some would be right on target and others not so much.

Monte is very handsome! Welcome! The breed standard for the maltese is 4 - 6 pounds but we have many members here with malt babies that are less than 4 and more than 6.

Thank you all for welcoming me. Babycake my hubby makes fun of me because we saw both parents and they were both much smaller than Monte, so He calls him baby Huey. He just teases to play, he would literally collapse without our baby.
