I took Lily to meet her new vet yesterday. It is a new practice for us and we really liked her. She practices by herself and reminds me of a "country doctor". She has been in practice for 30 years and got down on the floor with Lily and really took her time with her. The vet we used to go to sold to a corporation and we have not been happy there for some time.
Since we got Lily from someone else they already had her established at their vet and she had already received her first 2 rounds of shots. Our new vet suggested splitting the doses since she is so tiny (4 lbs. 1 oz.), makes sense to me. She didn't get any shots just a "poop" check for worms which was clear. She had been on medicine for worms when her former owners got her. I forgot to ask the vet at what age should she be spayed and advice about "chipping" her. Once again thank you all so much for this wonderful site. Wanda

Lily is adorable!!
![]() I would think about 6 months of age is about time to spay. I did it at 7 months. Lily at 4lbs. is a little small and she is only 3 months, I would wait a couple of months so she can put on a little weight. Hope you stick around and post more pics of Lily!

Our vet recommended around six months. When she was spayed, they also checked for any retained baby teeth that can be removed. Welcome to SM. Can't wait to see more pictures of Lily.

Oh Lily is a cutie!!! My two females were spayed at about 6 1/2 months, and baby teeth were removed then. It!s great that you have found a vet that you like and trust. It sounds like she's a good one!

My Izzy was also spayed at 6 months, and was micro chipped at the same time. She was 7lbs 4 oz at the time of her spaying. You can see her in my signature in her onesie. That was the day I picked her us as my vet requires an overnight stay.
