Question Feet on the ground

How do you train you little one to keep their feet on the ground when trying to trim? When I touch Lilly's foot she raises it. The hair on her feet are always going every which way because I can't get her to keep the feet down.

I know this will involve treats but what? when I touch the foot goes up. How to get the idea to her.

Pick up the opposite foot and she will put it back down. I usually hold the paw to some degree as I trim feet in layers.

JMM gave some good advice. Sometimes I have to hold up the rear in the air slightly so the front paws are forced to touch if one of the dogs is being difficult. Usually Preston just sits/stands there, but London is the tricky one.

Along the same lines, how do I teach Poppy to stand when I have him on the grooming table?

As soon as I start brushing him, he lays down. Of course, I am using one hand to brush, and one hand to give treats, so I don't have any more hands to hold him up in the standing position.

HUGz! Jules
