Groomer Recommendations in Chicago? Pup's First Cut - Maltese Dogs Forum : Spoiled Maltese Forums

We have a new Maltese Puppy....I have spent hours on the internet trying to find the right place to take him. I guess this stems from visiting a Pet Smart and meeting a little maltese....shaved! I am worried about not getting a puppy cut.
Looking for someplace on the Northshore.
Or advice on what to tell the groomer to get Thor a proper puppy cut

Welcome to SM ...my advice stay away from Petco and Petsmart I have heard so many horror stories when it comes to there grooming.

How old is your new puppy? Its not safe to take him to the groomer, dog parks, pet stores, common areas in neighborhoods and apartment complexes until he's completed all his vaccinations. The risk of dangerous diseases, especially Parvo, is too great. The Parvo virus can live on surfaces and in the ground for months and is deadly for puppies.

I could help you out in Indiana....but sorry ....not sure where in Illinois....I know we do have some members that live in the Chicago area...so hold tight...It might take a while for them to see your post....good luck....

Oh I am so interested in this thread! I have had my dog since New Years and took him to Petsmart to be shaved. He was from the shelter and there was no way his hair could be saved. I was very dissatisfied with Petsmart, but I didn't know where else to go.

I too am close to the North Shore. I was thinking about trying Best Friends in Lincolnshire/Prairie View.

Hello! I can't be of much help as Zeus (who was almost named Thor by the way) has only been bathed really when back in Chicago. My family lives there and the northshore was where I grew up. I got one good cut for him from the Petsmart in Northbrook from a girl I believe was named Daisy. I brought a lot of photos of what I wanted him to look like and that tends to help make sure you get what you want. I hope someone knows of a good place because I too am at a loss for other options. WELCOME TO SM
