Getting the feet white - Maltese Dogs Forum : Spoiled Maltese Forums

I have a problem here in Arizona. After a couple of days, Charlie's hair on his bottom legs and paws is grey. I try to bathe him every week but have a hard time getting the paws and legs white. I love my shampoo but it is not a whitening shampoo. I can shampoo and shampoo and rub and rinse and the paws and bottom legs still look grey when they are wet. Once the hair is dry it looks white and if you see a picture you think "I don't know what she is talking about". I would like to find a shampoo that will get rid of that grey when wet.

Is it due to a particular mineral in the earth there? My kids get gray from city dirt, but it washes right out. MiMi has some darker pigment in her hair that shows up when she is wet, but disappears when dry. Could that be it? Or the mineral content?

It's dust. And he does not even go much on walks. It's mostly from running around in the yard on pavers and cool deck finish. Once the hair is dry it looks white as you can see on this picture.

It must get clean. As long as he is white after dry, you shouldn't worry. Give him a kiss.

That is pretty much normal....as long as when you wash and then dry him he is white its okay. You can occasionally use a whitening shampoo to give extra whitening. Not every time you wash because its drying and harsh on the hair.

I have been using dish soap right after walks or outdoor time ever since we've had Obi (thanks to Jackie!). It works GREAT!!! I wash his feet right after we come inside and it gets all the grime and dirt off so easily.
