I brush Gucci every night, but for some reason, the matting on her chest is just a nightmare. It's even worse because it is so hard for me to hold the hair while I pull the tangles out AND hold her up at the same time. I've tried flipping her on her back, but she just freaks out because she knows it might hurt.
So, my question is: Do any of you have your babies in a pupy cut, but have their underside shaved closer?? I don't want her to look completely ridiculous, so I figured I'd see if anyone has an idea or suggestion. |

I'm not really any help. Luckily, I haven't really had a matting problem so far with Leila. I brush her at least once a day with her Maden brush and then comb her with her mustache comb. I usually stand her on a counter and with one hand, I hold up her front legs while brushing with the other hand. If she's not in a mood for standing up like that, then I have to blindly do it...brush under there while she stands on all fours where I can't see her tummy/chest. Good luck and maybe some others can give you better tips.

I try to keep Lilly and Daisy short on the under side. Can't really see that area and Daisy has cotton hair that matts very easily.

It is important after you brush her to use a Buttercomb because the brush doesn't get to all the hair and that's where the comb is great. Truly the comb is key.

It is a struggle to get underneath and keep them still. I say no and she usually just stays still. But with time they do get use to it and it becomes routine.

I often "shell out" my dogs with a 10 blade from the armpits back. You really need to commit to teaching her to lay on her back in your lap for grooming. This is the easiest way to brush/trim the chest and belly as well as trim nails and trim the hair between the paw pads.

TBH, she's usually ok for a little bit, but once I hit ONE snag, she's done!!! It's just hard because she plays SO much and it gets SO matted in one day, so it's GOING to have tangles!!
