NO CANCER!!!!
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I apologize for starting a new thread on an existing topic, but there's no way to edit the title to let you all know I have an update. I have to say I dearly love my vet. She called the lab personally and asked them to please expedite the results if they weren't too busy. And thankfully they weren't. So I got the results today instead of the end of the week. They said he has an impacted salivary gland. There's no bacteria, no lymph tissues (which she was concerned about because it's right next to a lymph node), and no cancer. We'll have to try to get the salivary gland to drain or it could get really big. So I'll be applying warm compresses and trying to rub the area inside his mouth with my finger...if he'll let me. I don't know what the course of action will be if we can't get it to drain, but I'm not going to worry about that right now. We'll get it to drain...somehow. Thank you so much my dear SM family for your encouraging words, prayers, personal emails and even phone calls. I love you all so much!

Soda has had this twice. The first time we drained it with a needle (it literally was saliva that came out).
The second time he was put on phenobarb for a few months. There's some weird condition called phenobarb responsive idiopathic sialadenitis. Basically nobody knows exactly why but the salivary glands get big and impacted and a brief course of phenobarb fixes it.

Crystal - I'm so happy. See how it was worth getting the biopsy. Now you don't have to worry. I think the three of you should have a special treat tonight. Something yummy for Jett and Zoe and for you Lots of hugs and kisses to little Jett

That's fantastic news! I've been away from the forum for a few days, so this is the first I read about a biopsy, but am so happy to hear about the good news! Big hugs!
