As his new mommy.. I just cant tell what is ailing him... Ari seems cold.. We had to shave his coat down very thin due to his previous owners grooming. Its now pretty cold and he seems miserable. I have kept a sweater or neck warmer on him. I have a blanket which is buries himself under but he still shakes like a leaf. How can I tell if hes cold or if hes just scared.. However he is in a new home.. Its been about a week now...

Maybe he's a little of both? I don't know for sure. I would think that he's cold since he was just shaven and the weather is cold. But then again, like you said, he's in a new environment. How is he eating? I would do like you're doing and try to keep him warm. I would also see if I could get him to play with you, maybe try to teach him some tricks using treats. What better way to both warm up and get to know each other.

Awe poor baby I am sure he is cold and scared at the same time. I dont have answers for you but I hope someone on here can help you.

He eats great... He plays well with the boys I have 3 (11,14,18) not counting my husband.. He snuggles and wants me to hold him.. He seems happy.. but Like now.. He is in his dog bed.. under the blanket looking at me shaking..

Does he still shake if he's snuggled up to you? Maybe just the new environment, and he'll be fine once he gets more familiar with everything. Just keep reassuring him , try to get him to play.

Sometimes dogs don't like being shaved down like that. He probably is a little cold but I think he is more bothered by the fact that he doesn't have a lot of hair. If you hold him for a bit does he seem to stop shaking?

If he's eating great and playing - not cowering, etc... I'd say he's cold.

Maybe try a tight t-shirt (I use a onesie with the bottom cut off) under a sweater. That works well for Gus and grace. It's hard to know how hot or cold they will be. But if he's shivering and is fine otherwise -- I'd try adding some layers

He could be both. I am sure that he is cold without all his fur. And if he has new surroundings then he has to be somewhat scared. Does he have a tendency to shake more when others are around? I feel for you when you have no idea what is going on but want to only have the best for your pet. If he seems happy then he is most likely cold. Hopefully his fur grows fast.

He does stop shaking when I hold him. Wonder how long it takes for his hair to grow? I hated to cut it but it was all choppy in spots and it was best to just start from scratch. So I could maintain it. People don't seem to bother him. He's happy being the center of attention
