Oh how scary, i'm just happy to hear that it wasn't something serious and hopefully he'll be back to his bouncy self soon. I can't imagine how scared you were when you saw the blood. Try and get some rest while you can, soon Dewey will have you on your toes again.

Sorry if I alarmed anyone with saying it could be HGE. When Tyler was so very sick after the neuter with 4 full days of diarrhea and blood in the stools and vomiting several times we took him into the emergency vet on a Sunday and when I saw a report later she had written down HGE. She gave him meds and a shot under his skin to hydrate but he was still sick after that for two more days and we saw our normal vet who said it was either from stress or the anesthesia and so she probably thought it was colitis. Tyler never perked up in all those days even for short periods. He was a mess so I'm glad that Dewey's having perky periods. It was very scary and I know it was far from the norm and much the exception. Hoping Dewey keeps improving.

Dewey seems to be feeling better this morning. He's nibbling at the food that the vet gave me , and he's playing with a toy. Hope the diarrhea is over he had a little yesterday evening.

Thanks so much for the update. I have been checking off & on to see if you had said how he is this morning. I was worried about him and am so glad to hear he is doing better. I hope he continues to improve and the worst is over!

Deb-All of sudden they bounce back. I remember it can take week for some dogs after surgery. Sammie's mild diarrhea lingered for few days. His was mild and intermittent with loose stools for the week after his surgery. No blood. But it's unnerving bec surgeon said it was from all the stuff in his system (anesthesia, antibiotic, pain, nausea meds). I bet he's moving about more tomorrow. Good to hear he's playing with his toy and ate some.
