My maltese hates men
My Maltese hates men. I believe that the owner of her before me was not very nice to her and he was a male. Could this be it?

Could very well be... I'm assuming she is a rescue?
We rescued Ozzie a year ago, and he seemed to be quite shy around my bf for a long time and we thought perhaps he was afraid of the male in his old life... he has gotten much more relaxed around my bf after several months, though not sure if he was afraid just because he was a male, since he is a fearful pup! The advice I would give to help your pup would be to have men come over as much as possible, or stop by men while on walks and such, and have them give your dog treats so she will associate men with something good

Give him time and have him give treats...nothing wins over a fluff like treats and belly rubs and love...
Rylee was afraid of Al for a long time and wouldn't go to him or he'd shake or cry when Al held him but now they're buds.. Rylee will pick me over him though,he's a mommie's boy...

Oh, I hope she wasn't mistreated but it could have been that. Any female dog I've had have always liked men better than women. Leila LOVES men! She gives them lots of kisses and rolls over for them to rub her tummy. I tell her to quit flirting.
