Hi everyone,
Lulu was doing so well after surgery, I was allowed to bring her home yesterday, a day early. When I arrived at the clinic to pick her up, I spoke at length with one of the vets. (There are 7 at this clinic--the neurologist who did Lulu's surgery and 6 more.) She told me, "Yesterday was Lulu Day." She said she's never seen anything like this in all the years she's worked there. Apparently the clinic shut down while the Dr was working on Lulu. No one was allowed past the front desk while he worked on her for 4 hours and she said he told her it was the most difficult surgery he's done in 30 years. He devoted the whole day just to her. (Such are the charms of Lulu! How blessed we are! Thank you for your prayers!!) So you can imagine how shocked they all were to see her going home the very next day! They brought her out to me in her crate. She stood up when she saw me and poked her little nose through the bars and licked me and wagged her tail. She settled down as I started driving. I put my fingers through the bars and she leaned her face against them and went to sleep. When we got home, I made her a soft bed in a laundry basket with padding all around her and a rolled up towel under her chin for support. I carry it from room to room so she's always with me. She's wearing a neck brace that holds her chin up in the air and she's getting adjusted to it. Yesterday she didn't want to walk because of it. This morning when I took her outside to go potty, she took off walking.....and then running! She is walking better than she's walked in months! We're so amazed and grateful. She has a lot of healing to do, but she's well on her way! Jane |
