Happy Birthday, Gus! I'm sorry he is in pain and I hope his dewclaw gets better. Poor birthday boy

We started the Amoxicillin today. It's still really angry looking and it's starting to go down his paw - the part on the foot next to the dew claw and going down the foot toward the pad is turning red.... and the red (and puffy) toe (dew claw) is now hot

I made an appointment for Wednesday 8am in case the antibiotic doesn't work. I figure that gives him 3 days on it, so if it isn't helping by that point.... then he needs to be seen.

I just have this horrible feeling in my stomach that it will need to come off

So I know in the big scheme of things, this seems little.... But any prayers you could send our way for the antibiotic to kick in would be great

I am sorry to hear this Tori! Poor Gus........... but I will be praying for him!!! it doesnt matter how big or small the problem is when our furbutts are sick they are sick and it is always nerve racking!!! Just try to stay positive............ I know easier than said!! but you are a very good mommy!!!! and take great care of them!!! Peppino,Babinka and Tiny Tina say get well Gus and Happy Birthday!!!

Can Dew Claw be treated successfully? I'm new to this and I have been paying attention. Sending loves and hugs to you both! Gus will be in our thoughts and prayers for a speedy and painless recovery! Go Gus!!!

Aww tori poor Gus!!! You poor little man daisy is liking my phone so I figure those kisses are for you Gus to get better soon. She loves liking an said she would lick your paw better if she was closer!!! Hope the anti biotics work for you little man.will say prayer for you so that it all heals. It's sounds so nasty!!

I call him "Gus Gus Wiggle Butt".... and yeah it is hard. He seems okay. But last night he was just restless and trying to get at the paw. Now I know why... it got worse.

Hoping the Amox kicks in... If tomorrow it is worse (I'm okay with no change , but hoping for improvement)...if it is worse I may call in and get him in to see Dr. L - the vet who would do the surgery anyway.....

I just hate knowing he's in pain.

Um... hopefully the antibiotic will help. That is usually a good "go to" for infections. He's needed them for his feet before - he gets sores from allergies, sometimes they get infected. So hoping the oral antibiotic is going to work.

But like Michelle said - her dog had this happen, then it healed, but happened again so they just removed it. At this point if the infection is starting to spread I will just have them remove it. I don't want to risk him getting really sick from a toe....
