I will try the ice.... I'm a bit hesitant to do that with his fever tho... .maybe just a cool pack.
He has been limping. That started yesterday. He has a very odd gait to begin with because of his leg problems (shoulder issues).... so it's very easy to tell when he is walking differently. And he is definitely favoring the other leg right now (the one without the hurt toe). Sigh.

Wow. You need to get Gus into a vet you can trust. I can not believe any healer could ever act this way. Clearly if he has a fever and the site of the redness and puffiness has spread, there is a problem that needs to be addressed. Poor little thing. You certainly (and Gus certainly) need to be treated that way.

Walter,
would you wait until Wednesday if it was Lucky? He *is* on antibiotics..... and we can see our good vet Weds...and even the owner if needed..... Our vet and this vet today said that it was most likely snagged and that is what caused this infection. Not our fist infection, just the worst ![]() Thinking they need to come off if they are snagging. I don't want to do this again. But taking them off might have to wait until after this infection clears? Thanks..... I'm tired. Emailing our vet....

Tori what worries me is the red line is it still there? I don't want to worry you but I presume dogs are like humans if there is a red line then the infection has gotten into the blood. I would keep an eye keep checking his temperature. I think I would ask your usual doctor or the owner could you have an emergency appointment!!! I don't think I would wait if it was daisy. It will be day tomorrow on antibiotics if his temp hasn't gone down tomorrow def call in and demand you want your usual vet. Let the air at it as much as you can. I hope this helps somewhat

Yes taking them away will have to wait until infection is cleared humans can't go for op with temp etc is say dogs are the same also if infection opening might make it spread

Thanks Grace.
It's the red spreading that worries me too. Which is why I took him in. Knowing now he has a fever... I know I"m right to worry. Will see what our vet says. I'm comfortable taking his temp...so if it goes up, if he stops eating or drinking, or limps worse, we will do an ER visit.

What the H......... I would be telling the other vets there about her bed side manner and remind her or them that if it was not for you and other paying customers and refferals they would not be in business. That pisses me off!!!! as I know dealing with some of these people my-self!!!! mind you I dont mind going off side either on people like that!!!! Oh Geez Tori I feel really really bad for you!! I hope Gus will be ok!!

I agree I would be mad too everyone who knows you tori would know you wouldn't let Gus lick his dot and the fact that he was wearing the neck brace shoes he couldn't lick. I would mention this too!!!
Please keep us updated. It's the red I'm sorry to worry you further maybe but is be just as worried about that on daisy if I saw it. You are so right to worry. My vet has 24 hour call out service. My aunts dog was very sick as a pup ( i think it was taken away far to early and wasn't weaned off the mother) the vet came out every night to check on him.this is the reason why I Choose this vet because she is so good with small dogs and her 24 hour service. Does your vet do this. I think I'd pay the extra and get your vet out if she does home visits. |
