I am so worried. His wound where the dog bit him doesn't look infected. But he's been very lethargic since last night. He is still walking, eating, peeing and pooping all fine, but when he's at home he's been just sleeping all the time, well, more than usual.
I called the vet and they said they will see him tomorrow and I shouldn't be too concerned if he's eating fine but I AM concerned!!! I also looked up side effects of antibiotics he is on (Simplicef) and doesn't look like lethargy is a listed side effect. I am so concerned. Could he be in pain? What should I do? Does pain cause lethargy in dogs? Could he be in pain today for a bite that happened about 36hrs ago? Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App |

No, he isn't. He's just...sleeping a lot and not getting into as much trouble as he usually does.

The antibiotic may make him sleepy... but it could also cause him some tummy upset... so he may be sleeping because he isn't feeling well.
I'm glad he will be seen tomorrow. Hugs for Gustave....

Its similar to when we get an injury...it usually takes a day before it gets really bruised and then hurts more. I think it will take a little bit before he feels 100%. Poor Gustave it must hurt a bit. Please keep us posted....hope he perks up soon.

The pumpkin can't cause this, right? It was puréed pumpkin with nothing else mixed in. Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App |

Thanks, Orla. You're right. He might just be tired. I hope I know what I'm doing when I say his wound looks OK. The doctor hopefully will confirm that.
