My little Ivy is supposed to go in to be spayed in mid-January and I too am very concerned for her. I love my vet though so that brings some comfort.
My vet usually recommends spaying at 4 months of age but since Ivy is so little he said to wait until she was 6 months old . She is now 4 lbs. 10 oz. and I'm hoping she'll be closer to 5 lbs. by the mid-January spay. The vet said if I bring her in by 9 a.m., she'll be able to go home later that afternoon which was a YAY to me. I was afraid that I would have to leave her overnight. I plan to be there by 9, but then stay with her until they are actually ready for her. I think so many times we get them there early, the vet gets busy, and it can be hours before they actually get to the dog; why not let me hold her until they're actually ready for her. I'll be too much of a wreck to get anything accomplished that day anyway so I might as well just stay with her. I hope your little fluff comes through it easily too! |

Praying for your little angel. The vet said the same about Halos canines but I tug a war-ed them out and he has perfect teeth. Chewing and play got them out before he turned 1...I worked them to death

I got Halo neutered at the SPCA at 7 months....it was the week of his first Christmas. He was not a happy camper. I am praying for you and your baby, get her somewhere to recover where she feels comfy. I am glad it is done but when I got halo home I remember he screamed when he tried to squat to pee and some pee hit the stitches. I didn't like seeing him in pain but I knew it was something that had to be done. I actually cancelled his appointment 3 times because my nerves were shot. He is fine now and I have no regrets. Halo is sending kisses to her and I am sending prayers. And you are worried because you are her mommy...it's our job to be protective of our babies

I will have to take Isabella in for spaying in another month or so. I try not to think about the horror stories; I tend to think, instead, about the millions of animals who get spayed or neutered without any problems. If you have a good vet clinic, I don't think you should worry too much. Yes, we are all concerned. Good Luck, Belle

My 14 year old malt Chelsea is going to be spayed on Monday. She has had a few issues (we thought she had lymphoma back in July) and has had some inflammation so the vet said to do it before she gets pyometra. But at this age it terrifies me and having to do it right after the new puppy arrives, sigh.
So I know how you feel. I'm sure your little girl will be fine. (But you're still allowed to worry till she's back in your arms - it's what we do!) |

My vet actually said they are going to keep her overnight. It's SO scary to think about, but I would rather her be with doctors in the even something wasn't right. It is certainly nerve racking, but I am sure she'll be fine, as will your baby!!

I will keep Belle in my thoughts.
It's hard not to worry, we have all been there. The breeder I used recommended Penny be spayed at 9 months, or by 12 months. I asked the Vet to call me when they are finished or they get so busy and could be hours before they call. xxxx
