So I tried to give my girls the Tri Heart pills today and Bailey took it in her usual pill pocket fine but the little girls even though I cut the pills in tiny pieces and hid them in pill pockets refused to take it. I don't know if it's a certain smell that they get from it or what but they eat the pill pocket and spit out the pill! My vet only carries Trifexis and Tri Heart. I see that I can order the Iverhart online through 1800petmeds. Anyone had trouble with their little ones taking the Iverhart pills?

Ivermectin (the main ingredient in Iverhart) makes both of my girls sick so I don't know what we're going to do when my stash of Interceptor runs out. They got very nasty diarrhea for the two days following the dose every time I used it.

Nickee, my old Maltese Holly did fine on Trifexis when she was 15, 16, 17 years old, and now 5 month - 6 month old Ivy is doing fine on it too. Neither had any reaction to it whatsoever, just no heartworms and no fleas.
Jennifer, you might try smearing a bit of peanut butter on the heartworm tablet. Ivy went nuts for it and couldn't get it down fast enough and I didn't even cut it into smaller bits. The heartworm tablets do have a bit of a strong odor to them; I think the strong scent of the peanut butter helps mask it. |

Hello All You Great Mommies--Well I Just Spoke to the vets office--Yogi Is Going In Tommorow. I Will Have To Order Triflexis on line-he will fax them i guess. also yogi needs the extra teeth on the top removed-the bottoms were done with his neuter. these must have come in right after that?
I Must Go up-Put my big girl Panties on and start this heartworm med. All This Help-All of you take so much time to see newbies are getting the help they need. For this Iam Grateful to all of you! Ill Make The Appointment for tooth extraction-maybe next week. or whenever they say*

Revolution is a topical heartworm, flea, and tick preventative. If you can't use an oral ivermectin, this is a good alternative.
