Iverhart and Comfortis - Maltese Dogs Forum : Spoiled Maltese Forums

I know I am gonna drive you guys nuts with this question, but I am SO nervous and naive about all this stuff.

I got two samples of Interceptor for Gucci, but the Vet doesn't have any to sell and Gucci is due for another pill TOMORROW. I have to go pick something up from them this afternoon and don't know what I need.
I see Iverhart, Iverhart Plus, Iverhart Max...and I have no idea what the difference is and which one I need.
THEN I wonder if it's safe to do Comfortis with that. I read that the two combined are bad, but if I do them 15 days apart, is it safe?? Gucci had tapeworms once already and I really don't want to risk that again, so I need to figure out what to do.

The risk of Comfortis and ivermectin requires a pretty large dose of ivermectin as compared to what is in Iverheart....but to be on the safest side, splitting them by a few days won't hurt. Iverheart has no dewormer, the Plus adds pyrantal, and the Max another dewormer. The Iverheart Plus should be more than adequate for house dogs.
You also have the option of Trifexis which is Comfortis combined with milbemycin (the active ingredient in interceptor).

So, is the Plus the best option???
I always read Trifexis was a bad idea. And I would almost rather split them apart two weeks for my OWN comfort.

Kris is on TriFexis and has fleas. I am not happy! The only thing that works for fleas is Comfortis.

Barb, Trifexis is the same drug as comfortis...

I give the Iverheart Plus for HW, and a confortis 2 weeks apart if I see fleas.
