Biscuit had his first 3 seizures in one day!

Hi everyone,

OMG two days ago, Wed 1/16, Biscuit experienced 3 seizures in one day. It was fortunate that the seizures were somewhat mild and occurs hours apart in which Dr. Sisson said while seizures will happen, he doesn't see anything to be alarm of. But I'll tell you, it gave us the scares that his condition was progressing for the worse.

At first I thought that it's a trend where whenever we started to lower the Prednisone dosage, his seizure relapse. But Dr. Sisson said we need to lower the Preds anyway as he said with Biscuit's light body weight, we won't torelate or survive much longer if we keep the Pred dosage high. We were told to increase the Phenobarbital to 15mg twice per day to help contain the seizure as much as possible.

It's just heart breaking sometime to think of our boy continuing to go through these traumas and being so drugged up all the time. But what else can we do other than hopefully soon a right combination of lesser damaging drugs will stabelize his condition and give Biscuit some chance of a normal life. He hasn't been his normal self, wagging tails, smiling, barking, since the seizures gotten worse.

If you are interested to see the nature of the seizures, we did capture a few videos I like to share with everyone. I wanted to warn you though that it's tough and hard to watch this especially if you have already gone thru similar or past experience.

Bless his heart. This is the first time that I've seen a seizure in a dog. I pray that the right combination of meds can be found to help him. I pray for strength for you and Ann to continue your wonderful care for Sweet Biscuit.

I chose not to see them because I know that I would too upset to watch poor little Biscut go through what he has been through and will continue to pray for him and you too. This surely has been so hard on both you and Ann to watch little Biscuit suffer. Hoping that soon this will all be behind you and that Biscuit will be well again.

I also chose not to watch the videos, I find it upsetting enough just to think of the poor little guy going through this. I am so sorry for you that they are having a hard time finding the right drugs to help Biscuit. I pray they find it soon.

Also hoping that they can find just the right treatment for Biscuit. I have had two dogs with petite mals and it can be a very scary thing to watch. I was glad to see that at least Biscuit looked very alert in the first video and recovered quickly, that has to be a good sign that progress is happening.

I also chose not to watch the videos as I saw too many seizures with my Lady. They are horrible to watch. I never got used to it.

Cluster seizures (several seizures in one day) are especially terrifying. I had to give Lady Valium after her seizures to prevent another one.

I am so sorry Biscuit is going through this.

I couldn't watch the video's, I can't bear to see your precious baby having to endure this. I pray Dr Sisson can get him stabalized and on the right dose of meds.

Hi, Just wanted to say I know how you both feel watching a poor helpless baby struggle................. I couldnt watch the video's that you posted. My moms newfie has seziures from time to time but not to the extent that you are going through!!! I have my baby that has a very bad heart 6/6......... I have had to endure the pain of watching her have breathing problems!!!!!! I send prayers to Biscuit................
