She sure looks cute in her onsie. Just cuddle up and she will make you feel better too... Keep us posted as much as you can, don't be afraid to call the vet about her weight loss...Sometimes we can do all we can do but a little extra help from the vet is a good thing...

Sending lots of hugs and nose kissies to all of you!

Thanks Michelle

I'll get her eating... I just know right now the meds might be causing some nausea. She only wants to eat veggies, which are almost all water - very low calorie LOL

Will try to get some full fat cottage cheese and yogurt into her... plus beans. She did eat a TBS of mashed beans today So that was nice... Good calories.

Not the first time she lost weight. She did this as a puppy, twice. Will just be patient with her. Vet says Grace is like a sick cat LOL ... she just says to feed her whatever she will eat when she gets like this. Grace has a sweet tooth so I try to find low sugar sweet things...she likes the low sugar animal crackers.

I know you will take such good care of her...I think when they feel sick, let them eat whatever they want, as long as they're eating...Two of my fluffs trend on the boney side, and they eat like horses!
People feel nausea for a bit after surgery, plus she's been though two surgeries, tummy and little feeties...(dew claw).
I didn't exactly jump after my hysterectomy or my foot surgery,so I can totally feel her pain...
Chocolate helped so might have to find her some carob which is kinda like "dog safe chocolate".
Extra hugs and nose kissies!:w ub:

Yogurt worked great for my fluffs when they felt sick and they liked it...

Doggy chocolate

Yeah... I know she just has to recover. The spay site is good... Doesn't seem to bother her. It's her feet that itch. When the stitches come out, I can start using some of the aloe and emu oil on them. That will help speed healing and stop itching.

I also know she is going to have a liver set back, so after she is off meds we will be focusing on detoxing. Once her body clears some of the toxins she should eat better.

Tori - wish there was some way to get some more calories in. Sometimes you're so weak from not eating that it gets like a vicious cycle. She looks so sweet but the two of you must be so exhausted. Hoping this period will pass. Why do you think she's going to have another liver setback? I hope not.

The meds... they are not as hard on the liver, but still go through it.

She's refluxing which happens when her liver is acting up. The not eating... which I know can be from meds.

Not too worried, but know we need to do some detox.

Updating here about her spay and dew claws

Good news: Stitches were removed today and the sites all look great. Tech was very impressed with her healing Said I did a great job.... she's seen many dew claw incisions and none have looked that good at 9 days

Other good news is that I was given the okay to bathe her. So we came home and had a nice herbal bath After her feet dry they will get wrapped up again... will keep wrapping them daily until they are all healed up... about another 5 days. But I can use regular gauze not the nonstick and I don't have to pad them as much.

Bad news: She's lost almost a full pound. She was 6.75 pounds last monday, she is 5.8 pounds today. So we will be setting up an appointment next week with our regular vet to do a weight check. With her liver issues they want to stay on top of it (happy about that) so might be doing weight checks every couple weeks if she doesn't start gaining.

I think now that the stitches are out, pain meds will only be at bedtime for another 3 days, and she's been bathed so smells much much better... I think she will start eating better.

So that's her surgery update....

A great report, Tori. You took very good care. I hope that especially once the meds are cut that her appetite will pick up. Maybe it's decreasing it. Probably too as she feels better she'll be more interested. Good job.
