Default Grace - spay/dewclaw update

So we are still doing okayish.

This morning is our last dose of pain meds. I think I need to call them to ask for more or a step down med, something.

I need to check her foot today. The right one was looking red yesterday. Not infection red - bruised red. Like the darker red color that comes before it goes into other shades. No drainage, no puffiness, no heat, no smell. So I'm really not worried about infection.

When Gus had his infected sutures he wouldn't sleep, just laid there panting and breathing really heavy. Grace is able to sleep and isn't panting, no fever, no other signs of it. So I do think it's just bruising.

I am worried because Thursday when she had her good day she jumped down from my bed... not a tall bed... maybe a little over 2 feet (should measure it - it isn't high). Worried she may have hurt that leg.

She did it again yesterday. I had to go out to the pharmacy. My mom said it happened so quick. Which I understand...happened on my watch Thursday.

It's just Grace telling us she needs to go potty. It's what she's used to doing...

But last night her leg was sore She wouldn't walk, putting less weight on that side.

I will look at it again this morning. I called yesterday after it happened and they said bruising is expected, but if I'm worried I can bring her in and they will look at it no charge. So I told them I'd give it one more day and bring her in if it wasn't any better or worse.

But I do think she needs more pain meds. We get to about 2-3 hours from her next dose and she gets restless and doesn't want to move. She wants to get onto me and lay there.

I'm rambling.

I slept better last night. Grace slept better last night. Still peeing, still pooping. Ate poorly yesterday but I expect up and down days. She did drink pretty good for her

I should post a photo of her in her restraint bag .... It has totally paid for itself now. Made the bandage changing and face cleaning so easy.

I am sorry Gracie's leg is giving her some pain. I hope the jump down doesn't slow down the recovery. Sounds like otherwise things are progressing.

If I ever get sick I want to call you in as my private duty nurse Tori! You do super work!
I am glad you slept better last night. Your energy level needs to be tanked up to keep up w/Grace, but then you know that already!
Do post some more pix of your darlings. They make me smile.

Aww Thanks Sandi....

I like taking care of people and my fluffs I know that like people, pets heal faster and better when their pain is managed.

I called this morning and waiting for the vet to call me back. I told the tech a few more days or even something a step down from the Buprenex would be fine, but I don't think Grace is ready to go cold turkey without meds. Her feet get so sore.

Will get some photos later today She's cute today...all pink.

A local grooming supply store... they are a warehouse basically.

But you can get them on Amazon. Cat Restraint bag... it's black.

Tori, thanks for the update. I was thinking about you when I came on earlier this am. It does sound like things are moving along and improving, aside from the jumping off the bed. Don't you hate when your being so careful and then something like that happens....UGH. Your really a terrific nurse and I agree with Sandi...if I ever need help I would love to hire you. Your the best! I would love to see pics of the fluffs later if you get a chance.

I hope her little legs feel better soon. Let us know what the vet says.

The other vet was on today... the not-so-nice one. So I said a little prayer and thankfully she refilled the pain meds.

When we go in Thursday for stitches out they will look more closely at her foot if it is still bruised. If her limping gets worse will take her in earlier. Think she was hinting at the possibility that Grace injured it jumping on it... So crossing fingers that it is just the normal bruising.

Here are some photos....

Gracie this morning... her nose is pale again - means she isn't feeling well. But she did eat some oatmeal with pumpkin and cinnamon for me Put some extra padding in her basket... she is all buried under her blanket and sleeping now.

And here's Gussy.... notice his jealous look? He's upset because I'm telling him to get out of the basket. He is having a hard time still with Grace getting her own basket and all. When my mom and I do her bandages he goes off and pouts LOL

That expression on Gus' face is TOO CUTE! He very clearly is wanting to be the center of attention and is not pleased someone else is instead!
