I've heard yes and no too. Maybe there was some missed mold making you both sick?
Feel better!!!

A couple of lifetimes ago I worked for an ENT. He said that strep infections definitely can be "shared" between canines and humans. When we had a patient with recurrent strep throat infections, he would always ask whether they had a dog. If the answer was yes, he would tell them to take their dog to the vet's for a throat culture! It seems dogs can be carriers for strep (though they may not show signs of being sick) that they can then pass on to their owners. I would assume it could work either way. I remember at least one time where sure enough, the patient's dog DID show positive for strep. Both dog and owner were treated at the same time and that was the end of the recurrent strep in the owner.

The news here (AZ) has been reporting on the flu season - many of the strains going around this year are passing back and forth from people to pets....
People get the flu and their dog gets sick too... I don't have any articles, but there have been 3 or 4 news stories on it. I know my holistic vet has told me that some flu viruses transfer. We all got sick early last fall - everyone including the dogs - cough, ear infections - was a nasty virus. Our vet said it was most likely the flu, the dogs went on a round of Amoxicillin for the ear infection. But this year is a bad flu season.

We're back from the vet. Archie is being diagnosed as having Bronchitis and he's on an antibiotic. He also has a heart murmur and an exray showed his heart only slightly enlarged and some fluid in there, but not enough to cause heart failure - so that's not causing his coughing. For this the doctor gave him blood pressure pills and another pill to make him pee (to get the fluid out of his heart). I don't have the names of the pills at the moment because all the dogs are laying on me right now.....
![]() The vet also packed his ear as it is HORRIBLY swollen shut!!!! I try to put drops in it daily, but there's really no more hole to drop the drops in!! ![]() oh, and he got his monthly adaquan shot for his legs...our new hardwood floors are obviously more slippery than the old ones and he's having a heck of a time. My poor dude...all this and he's still as sweet as anything. It breaks my heart when he gets one of his coughing spells - he just can't stop. ....well me either.... ![]()

Pat,
Do you use a humidifier? If you do - let Archie sleep near it... that will help him. If you don't, maybe think about getting one. Hope he feels better soon, poor little guy...

I have one set up right next to my bed...but Archie has been sleeping downstairs recently...not sure what that's all about, but I'm gonna take him up with me tonight and hope he stays put all night.
