I've been sick for some time now. Actually it started with what I call the flu back before Christmas.....the doctor said it was a severe upper respitory infection....
I had never been so sick before!! Sore and achey, no energy, fever, chills....etc...flat out sick in bed. Then when that was done with, I had left a left over cough that lasted a long time, then turned into this nasty head cold. ....now Archie is coughing non-stop too!! He gets into coughing fits just exactly like me!!!! Do you think a cold can be trasmitted from person to animal and visa versa??? I've heard both yes and no throughout the years. He has a vet appt at 4:45pm this afternoon, and I wish it were earlier, he's not feeling well at all!!! Poor dude! *sniff*

Pat I'm so sorry that you and Archie both aren't feeling well. I've always wondered the same thing if we can pass viruses on to our fluffs so I'm curious to hear the answers. I hope you both get well soon.

Zoonosis is a disease that can be transferred between animals and humans. There are a few (very few) things you can get from your pet (think SARS). But you are much more likely to get sick form contact with other humans. Here are things you your dog can't catch from you, and vice versa...Colds, influenze, Stomach Flu, Mono etc. The good news, you can cuddle with Arch when you or he is sick with no worries! Hope the sweet boy feels better soon!

I actually read about this cold flu being transferred to you pet in the newest copy of the wellness dog magazine. They said it was and is possible for you to pass on a cold or flu to the fluff kids, and if they show any signs take them to the vets................. so you are on the right track of taking Mr, Archie to the vets. Hope you and Archie get better. Keep us updated

I hope you and Archie both feel better real soon. I'm sure that all the stress you have been under has brought on this bad cold. Sorry, I can't answer your question. I know that birds can get a cold from a person, but I don't know about dogs. I have never had a dog get a cold from me.
