My daughter lives in NC, Bentley her maltese started throwing up earlier today. Following vets advice she took away everthing food water treats chewies ect. Now he has diarrhea. She doesn't know if he got into anything outside when he was taken out for potty He didn't get into anything while in the house that she knows of. She doesn't have a vet up there believe it or not she brings him down her to SC for his vet appointments. I tried to get her to have a back up vet up there in case something like this happened. Right now she doing what the ER vet told her to do, and the ER thinks that what ever he ate is just working the last of itself out of his system. So please pray that her little boy will be ok and it is nothing serious. I will let you all know what happens. Thank you

Praying all will be okay. Please don't wait. If symptoms persist bring him to a ER vet immediately. Time is important.

I would advise getting him in to the vet to be seen immediately. He is at severe risk for dehydration if he has been vomiting and having diarrhea with no water going back in. And dehydration can kill quickly in a small animal. Is there any blood in the diarrhea? If so, definitely get him in to the emergency vet immediately.
Keep us posted. |

Praying all will be okay but I really wish she would take him into an ER vet. There are various reasons for those symptoms so best to check. Some gastro problems really need to be seen and taken care of. Keep us posted.

Glad to hear he is on his way to the vet. With blood in stool it could be hemorrhagic gastroenteritis. I had a dog with that last summer. It can kill quickly if not treated but can be cured just as quickly with proper treatment. Let us know how he is!
