Hi, Isabella will be 16 weeks tomorrow!!! We have had her since she was 12 weeks. She had been using a pee pad at her first home. I decided to litter train her as it is winter here in Canada. We ordered a UGODOG system. It has been remarkable. She had a habit of tearing at the pee pads and this eliminated that as the pads are under the grates. We placed her litter in a corner and placed a gate around it. We would put her in every hour (or whenever we saw her sniffing around) and give the que "Go Potty". It was hit and miss at first. But when she went we praised her and she got her treat--a very small piece of boiled organic free-range chicken. This treat is only for potty training. Urinating training was going great but we were having difficulty with pooping. I remembered another member saying that her dog didn't like to pee and poop on the same pad, so we bought a large plastic tray and made a grate for it. Voila. Now she had two spots to do her thing. We were having many more successes and fewer accidents. For the past 3 days, Isabella has been going into her litter by herself. If I see her going into the litter area, I quietly follow her. When she is done, I clap and tell her what a wonderful girl she is. She comes out and prances like a little pony right to the fridge. She jumps up on two legs and hops around waiting for her reward. I'm not saying she's 100% reliable; I still watch her like a hawk. Today our grandchildren were over and she was so preoccupied she held it too long and had an accident on the dining room floor. Rachel, my 6 year old granddaughter told her, "Isabella, no treat for you. That's the rule". We all burst out laughing- well all of us but Isabella. What I find has made the difference is I never scold her even if I see her peeing on the spot. I just go over and talk to her in a kind voice. I take the mistake and her to the litter box and tell her that is where she goes potty. If she sniffs I tell her she's a good girl. And the most important thing is to catch her being good. Like my husband says, she's a full time job. Best job I've ever had.

That's great! The UgoDog was the turning point for Bella too. I always say it was the smartest $50 we have ever spent

Yes, Bridget. The UGODOG system is great. As we had to order it online, it was a bit more expensive but well worth the money. Every time I look out my window and see the mountains of snow laying on the ground, I am glad we went with the indoor route.
