Default Cookie can scream like a little girl!!

She is the drama queen! If she wants to get away, such as when I decide to look @ her feet, or in her ears, or under her arms, or if you just hold her too long, OMG!! you would think she was being stabbed.
She is perfectly healthy but just doesn't want to stay in one spot too long.
Her scream can be heard upstairs. Do your dogs do anything like this?

Boo does the screaming, but not for those reasons. He screams when he is startled. It's an earpiercing scream just like a little female child would make. It always makes me jump out of my skin & rattles my nerves.I'll never get used to it.

That is so funny Anne.......No, My two are not screamers BUT I have a pedigreed Exotic cat that will scream if she is displeased. An Exotic is like a persian but with a smushed in face look. I didn't want anyone to think I had an exotic animal from the wild!! LOL!!!!

Great articles JMM!! Poppy occasionally screams like a girl when I try and clean his face. You'd think I was killing him.

HUGz! Jules

Anne - I don't have a screamer ; I have a stubborn squirmer. I think they're related. Actually I do all the screaming when I'm trying to get him to hold still. (not really) I don't scream I just mutter to myself, loudly.

I really don't find this all that funny. Your dog responds in this way because it is stressed. Would you find it healthy for yourself to be stressed enough to scream on a regular basis? Lack of handling and gentling will stay with your dog forever. It will make grooming and vet visits increasingly stressful. Your dog may even need sedation for routine things one day. Take the time to seriously work on this. Your dog will thank you later when they are a happy, confident adult.

It is normal for a dog to yelp or scream when a toe is stepped on or they have an ear infection and it hurts. It is not normal for a dog to scream for basic handling.

Jackie - if you're responding to my post, I was only kidding. Just a joke. I got Tyler when he was already 8 months old so didn't get an early puppy start but have been working on behavior. I don't scream at Tyler...ever. I've been working on his squirming with patience and continuity and it's been paying off. Sorry if you took me seriously.
