This was recently shared on FB and I'm trying to determine if it's legit. If so, is this legal????? I cannot seem to comprehend how this is not misrepresented in some way.
Does anyone know of legitimate rescue groups involved or if this legit period?lizardmarsh: OHIO: Updated List of Dogs - Re: OHIO AMISH WILL SHOOT DOGS WITH NO RESCUE THIS SATURDAY! November 17th!!

Oh, I hope it's not true and if it is, I hope they find a way to stop it and save these dogs' lives! I didn't realize the Amish even had puppy mills and I always thought they were peaceful people.

I feel very sick to my stomach right now. Sad truth is there are so many animals out there in the world that are being abused etc; I wish I could do more :-(
I thought the amish people were peaceful people, but they look at dogs as cattle livestock nothing more |

A number of farmers found mass production of dogs more profitable as prices for farmed goods fell. Throughout Pennsylvania and the mid-west puppy mills emerged. This is a horrific situation. From the view of the Amish farmer, he may believe that he is doing nothing wrong. Anabaptist believe in a literal interpretation of the Bible: and God gave Man dominion over animals. He may truly not see what he is doing as wrong. believing that animals exist for humans to use as they see fit, he may see dogs no different than lifestock. The state needs to intervene. Compassion for animals is a very modern idea.

It was the treatment of animals that caused me to become a vegetarian almost 40 years ago.
Here is a link to a very sad article about Amish puppy mills. Warning very explicit and to me sickening descriptions: Puppies 'Viewed as Livestock' in Amish Community, Says Rescue Advocate - ABC News |

Yes, the Amish and the Mennonites are very well known for their notorious Puppy Mills here in Lancaster County as well in outer parts of the Country where they live. However, due to the AG Rules and regulations that were set forth, most of them have been shut down here in Lancaster County. However, there are still some that got around the "system" and are still breeding dogs. I would be curious to know if in fact that article is true, and if so, who can be contacted to stop this on the 17??
