My puppies always liked squeaky toys, but for chewing I give mine Bully Sticks.

Maltese are tiny... so I'd go with softer toys.
Avoid ropes and anything with ropes on it. The strings get chewed off and if they swallow them the string can destroy a dog's intestines... literally cuts through it. KONG has some great tiny soft toys... they don't have stuffing Grace has some of them.I also got her a really soft fuzzy caterpillar when she first came home... she LOVES that thing. It was bigger than she was when she got home but she still dragged it around LOL Nyla bones (make sure made in USA) makes some puppy bones that are nice. Grace personally liked the Orbee-Tuff pup bone best - PlanetDog.com: Buy the Planet Dog Orbee-Tuff® Bone for Pups - 3 out of 5 Chompers I got her the smallest one she loved it...and it was so soft for her during teething. But even with all the chewing it is still in one piece, can barely tell it was chewed. Have fun!! Toy shopping for a new puppy is so fun
