Teddy is a weird little girl. When we first re-homed her, we purchased a plastic travel kennel to make the long car rides easier. However, she hated being locked in so we scrapped the idea. One day in September at the cottage we left the travel kennel with the door taken off in the bedroom (with a soft pad lining) and she climbed in, sleeping soundless the rest of the night. Now, it's her 'bed'. She has an actual dog bed that she naps in during the day. However, as soon as its bed time, she climbs right into her travel crate and refuses to sleep anywhere else.
I was wondering if it's okay for her to sleep in a covered kennel the entire night? It does have air holes, and the door is removed so the front is completely opened. She seems to really love her little den. Which is odd, because she hated her actual wire crate. But that's most likely due to the previous owners making the crate a punishment and not a safe place. This is her, sleeping in her favourite position. ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App |

She looks absolutely adorable and comfortable in her crate. She probably sleeps there because she feels like its her little safe haven and she also probably likes it because its darker. I think if she likes it then its great. Our fluffs are smart and would never choose an uncomfortable place to sleep.

Awwww, adorable! My friend said the same, her dog would snuggle with her all day long but lights out! she went right into her crate! She thinks of it as her own little private bedroom! She has more than enough room! Bibu is right, she wouldn't be sleeping their quietly if it wasn't the perfect place for her.

I think if you don't use a crate as punishment, they do look at it as the place to schnooze or just to get away.
Only time we use it and shut the gate is when Rylee eats so they don't steal his food and when Bitsy is scared of storms, she likes to hide in the back...
