This is probably when most of you were still in the crib, but I had a dog who was tattooed---I just don't remember if I bought him that way---pretty sure I did.

Sandi the dachshund we bought in 1975 had her number tattooed on the inside of her thigh. It was her registration number from the National dog registry equivalent to the AKC here. Only tattoed dogs were supposed to be pure breed. It would also have helped in case the dog got lost. It was a beautiful long haired miniature dachshund. I still remember her registered name : Iris de la Dollerwiese.

RIP little one, you have been gone for a long time but I still remember you.
