What does it cost and what exactly is the information that can be obtained from a microchip? Also, I think she is chipped already, but the information will have to be changed. Can that be done?

Yup take her to the vets they will have a chip reader and they can change the info
I don't know the cost.

Typically you need permission from the previous owner to change information. Usually your vet's information and your contact information is linked to the chip.
