Grace is getting chipped on Monday... I think it's worth it. Gus is chipped....

If they get lost or are stolen - vets do check for chips. Could be the difference between getting them back, or not. But I waited for her spay to get it done (wasn't thinking it would be this long).

For shots - puppy shot packages are nice in they are usually cheaper (sometimes NOT, they just make it seem that way).... But since Maltese are known to be sensitive to vaccines, getting more than one at a time is risky.

I'd contact some of the breeders on this forum and ask how they do their first puppy shots....

They are so cute! I had Leila chipped when she was spayed last week. That way, she never felt a thing. She has done fine with all of her vaccines too, but I had her pretreated with Benadryl to prevent any possible reactions.

Great advice on dividing up the shots to one each time---we did this & still had anaphylatic reaction to one so you can't be too careful!
Regarding micro-chipping---many do this but forget to register the micro-chip so it is only traceable through your local vet. There is a registration service on line that we used to register Kitzi (haven't done it w. Lisi yet!) so that he can be traced if he gets lost. There is a small charge as I remember, but well worth the cost! Example: if you are out of town w/your dog & have an accident & same goes missing---he can be traced on-line without contacting all the vets (who may not be near) where the accident takes place.

Update:

So we got are vaccines. Wilber cried like the small baby that he is. Leila was a champion and did not share a tear.

They did not have us all the shots bcz they said we are too small.

We got 5 in 1 (DHPP) and wormer.

We are due to go back in 4 weeks again. We don't want to go.
