Our local kennel club is hosting a two day show this weekend. I'm very excited to be going with my youngest son. He is six and he loves dogs - I mean he really, really, really loves them. He has been counting the days. I believe there will be about 550 exhibitors expected. We have our whole day planned out. I remember going to this same show last year and hoping to make some contacts with maltese breeders. It was like torture seeing all those maltese and not having one of my own. I am sure it will be much better this time around now that I have a perfect-for-me maltese of my own.

There were no maltese in the show!!! They were entries listed in the program but none showed up! I was super disappointed about that.

. We had fun watching the other breeds though, especially the French Bulldogs...which my son is obseessed with. One breeder we met was so nice that after she showed her dogs, she let my son play with her Frenchies for over an hour. He had a ball. Turns out her partner only lives about 45 minutes from us and they invited us to come over anytime to visit. My son was thrilled. We also bought several new toys for Bella and some gifts for my niece who is getting a Pom puppy when it is ready to go here in a few weeks.

Hope -- the last 4 shows here in NM haven't had any Malts show. Disappointing and sad. Shows how hard it is to find a Maltese here in our neck of the woods. I bet there weren't any Shih Tzus either.

But, still it's fun watching the other breeds.

We watched the Shih Tzu and there were only 4...but last year there were none. There was a lot of large dogs this year - a lot of Borzoi and Great Danes. And there was 27 Frenchies...the most of any breed there.
