I've never had a dog like green beans as much as Dewey! He goes crazy when I'm getting them ready! He whines, barks, digs, and actually howls until he gets his green beans! I have to separate him from the others, or he'll try to steal theirs too! How many can the "green bean nut have?" He eats his food very well, but green beans seem to be his favorite treat!!!

Lily is like that with raw green beans out of the garden. But they give her diarrhea unless they are blanched.

They don't have calories, but have a lot of bulk. I really doubt they can hurt him, unless it is to the exclusion of other food I guess it is possible too many will give a tommy ache, but most likely you are going to end up with elephant poop, if you know what I mean. You found yourself a great traing treat for him. BTW, I had a dog who would steal them off the plants in the garden.

I'm no expert, but since green beans have so few calories and assuming the ones you are giving him have no salt (I'm sure you are probably giving him either fresh or frozen) I think you can give him as much as you want! I'm sure his tummy would tell you if he was eating too many of them...and it sounds like he eats his regular food with no problem.

Lady loved green beans! I gave her green beans everyday since she was diabetic and limited with treats and she never had any problems. Lots of good fiber in green beans.
Dewey might enjoy green beans in a treat dispensing toy. I put them in Lady's Busy Buddy Twist and Treat and she loved it. |

Lady had so much fun playing with her green beans in her Twist & Treat! I used the frozen french cut beans and just ran them under water for a few seconds then cut them in half.
