So I've read how great green (raw) tripe is supposed to be for dogs, and I finally got some for Perri to try and it came today. I got the Dr. Harvey's freeze dried green tripe, the product is called power patties. That's all that's in it, and it's from quality grass fed cattle - not organic, but not fed antibiotics, ect. (yes I called lol). So I broke just a few small pieces off for him, and he seemed to like it. However he threw it up almost immediately - like 2 minutes later.
The Whole Dog Journal had a good piece on tripe last year and it said how easily digestible it's supposed to be and well tolerated by dogs with food sensitivites ect so I was surprised that it obviously didn't sit well with him. I opened up the box it came in when I got home from work and he was sniffing at the bag so I gave him a bit then, before his dinner. So maybe it was having it on an empty stomach? He was fine afterwards - ran around outside, ate his dinner, and is still normal. I'll try it again on a non-empty stomach, but maybe like an early afternoon. I almost did the second try right after his dinner but realized if he were to throw it up again he'd throw up his whole dinner along with it and I didn't want that. So I was wondering who else gives tripe and what your experiences with it are. Does your Malt tolerate it ok? |

I've never used the raw green tripe..never had access to it but mine have eaten canned green tripe before and loved it. And I give them solid gold dehydrated green tripe as treats and they love those too. They've never had a problem with it but each dog is an individual
