Garlic is used as a natural deterrent for fleas in dogs/cats but in moderation. Large amounts of it is toxic as is onions, and will cause anemia. As for the commercially prepared food, I have no knowledge about any of it. Perhaps others here will be more enlightened.

Small amounts of garlic are actually good for dogs. It's large amounts that are dangerous. The amount of garlic in commercially prepared foods and treats should be perfectly fine.
