LOL!! Thanks for being so welcoming...I am so grateful! It's a lot of fun here!

Claire - Stuff was my 2nd Pap (my first was a rescue from a puppy mill featured on 20/20). I lost him in 2006 at the age of 16. I loved that dog so much. He was an absolute joy. He's the reason I didn't get another one...I never thought another dog could live up to the standards he set.

Now, 6 years later, I felt ready again. And Bravo has been everything I could have hoped for - and more!

Anyway...thanks for your compliments on my boys :-)

Oh!!!! I LOVE Phalenes!! I was thinking of adding one next time around. The breeder I got Bravo from bred a gorgeous one a few years ago...

Tracey - her dogs are beautiful!!!

Aw they're all gorgeous. We've thought about papillions too as a third dog choice, love the ears and they just so cute... I thought the fur was a bit more coarse and a little less maintenance than Malts, almost anything is easier than cockers..they matt just by looking at them! I know we've had 10 over the years...

With Paps...fringe is everything (well....you know what I mean - not everything, but significant), so if your grooming for a show, you want to make sure you groom them with care (not to break the hairs).

This was my dog, Stuff, when he was about three or four (neutered and pet groomed at this point) and he kept a nice coat with a bath about every two - four weeks.

I lost his show shots in Hurricane Andrew :-( But he had really nice fringe when I took care of it.
Omg I'm inlove with Stuff's ears!!
But one question, do Paps shed?

I forgot to add a subscription to this thread!! Sorry I didn't reply any quicker!

Marisol - Paps don't shed very much. Their coats are more like hair than fur. If I'm wearing a black shirt (like I did yesterday) and was holding Bravo...I had to pull of a hair or two. But that's pretty typical.

Pam - those glasses always made me laugh! Back then (20+ years ago) there were not that many stores selling dog clothes...so I use to buy him teddy bear clothing - and he was such a good sport about it.

I should scan some more pictures of him....I have a ton of him (as well as Jasper and Cruiser, too). Good rainy day project.

Like a few of you already said, those ears!!! It's what brought me to the breed originally...then the personality that kept me! However, the same could be said for several of the toy breeds - with the Maltese, I find that snow-white coat and button eyes/nose just about irresistible!!!

It also seems they share a ton of personality traits - happiness, friendliness, cuddliness - as well as not walking them with a collar (trachea problems).

I have a collar on Bravo at some point every day so he gets use to it, but he gets walked in his (girly) butterfly harness.
