The benefits of different membership levels are listed and no one is forced to become a paid member. All content to SM is free. Paid members obviously get some lovely perks.

So $0 are being used for any rescue?? This site was maintained 24/7 before corporate got involved, and a portion of the membership fees went to rescue. I would think Verticalscope has deeper pockets the Joe, and he still managed to "cough up" a portion of the fees to rescue. I would be more inclined to pay up if I knew a portion of my membership was being used to assist rescues. Besides it's a charitable tax write off. Last fall we were told there wouldn't be changes - well this is a change I don't particularly care for.

With regards to this comment, I apologize if you feel mislead. Not our intentions at all. Looking back, this comment we made at that time should have came with a follow up along the lines of "things are changing in the immediate future." As you can, some things have change (like the site software platform).

However, with regards to a portion of membership subscriptions going towards a shelter, that is something we don't do only because of the logistics behind it. I don't know how Joe did it before but it's a little different now. That's not to say that we don't want to help with charitable initiatives. I just need to learn more about how charitable initiatives in this community work and how we can be a part of it.

I was hoping our picture space would be enlarged so I wouldn't have to delete all my old attachments.....I've grown attached to them

Then I will be able to upload pics right from my computer without having to put them in Photobucket first.

Could you find out from Joe what was done or I know there are websites and forums all over the place that give a portion to certain charities. I'm assuming you mean how charities are chosen, whether umbrella org or rotating to Maltese charities. Is there precedence here as to how this or the raffle went in the past? Inquiring minds want to know and feel that with all these members even a small percentage can make a difference to rescues and I think I can safely say we all agree on that.
