I heard about Dixie, but haven't had time to catch up on here until tonight. I am so sorry for the loss of your precious Dixie, and it breaks my heart to hear this may have been preventable. She was a beautiful little girl! May her memory help to fill your empty heart.

Dear Elaine,
My heart is so saddened by this news. Thinking of you and praying.

Here is a prayer that helped me.

* A Parting Prayer

Dear Lord, please open your gates
and call St. Francis
to come escort this beloved companion
across the Rainbow Bridge.

Assign her to a place of honor,
for she has been a faithful servant
and has always done her best to please me.

Bless the hands that send her to you,
for they are doing so in love and compassion,
freeing her from pain and suffering.

Grant me the strength not to dwell on my loss.
Help me remember the details of her life
with the love she has shown me.
And grant me the courage to honor her
by sharing those memories with others.

Let her remember me as well
and let her know that I will always love her.
And when it's my time to pass over into your paradise,
please allow her to accompany those
who will bring me home.

Thank you, Lord,
for the gift of her companionship
and for the time we've had together.

And thank you, Lord,
for granting me the strength
to give her to you now.

Elaine - I can't get Dixie out of my mind or my heart. I keep seeing her beautiful face. I had said in another post that I would find a beautiful star on the first clear night to remind me of her. I was driving to Vermont last night - lots of fog - but then suddenly I looked up at the sky and saw the moon shining through and next to it, what looked like a very bright star. Then I realized it was a planet and thought, that's Dixie. She was even too beautiful for the thousands of stars we see. She's as bright as a planet. So now every time I see Jupiter or hear about it (which I found out later was what I saw) I will think of your beautiful girl. Sending prayers to you and your husband.

Elaine, I know you are still hurting, I look at my Matilda and can't even imagine what your still going through. Dixie will never be forgotten, what a beautiful baby girl, who brought so many smiles and great joy to all our lives, she's at the bridge just waiting for her mommy and daddy, no more pain only joy, she's running free

My heart also breaks for you! I just finished posting on her birthday post and wondered what happened but didn't know if I should ask. Then I saw this one. When I lost Cayce, it felt as if I had lost one of my skin children. I wish there was something I could say to take away the pain you must feel but only time can lessen that. Just know we're here for you.
